About Department

ECONOMICS:
The Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments in Dudhnoi College. It was established right from the inception of the college in 1972. At the time of the establishment of the department, it started with the H.S. Course. Now the department is accelerating its strength by having more and more students. Presently, the Department offers H.S. courses and undergraduate courses in Economics (Honours , generic and regular). Today, in the 50th year of its glorious existence, the department is able to attract students from all parts of the Goalpara district, as well as from other parts of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, etc. The department has the aim of assisting all levels of students in acquiring a full, conceptual understanding of the nature and basic structure of research so that students can prepare themselves to face new challenges in life. In spite of its regular co-curriculum activities like welcoming freshers, farewell, and observance of Teachers’ Day, the department also regularly organizes its Departmental Seminars, Teachers-Students’ Meet, Students’ Counseling sessions, publishes its Wall Magazine, and organises departmental educational tours and outings. The Department of Economics is enriched with three full-time teachers and one guest lecturer. The department also has a departmental library with 200 books, along with a computer with an internet facility. The library is used to serve the purpose of ready reference for the teachers and students in the department. Books are also issued to students of major and general courses at their request..
