About Department

Geography:
The Department of Geography at Dudhnoi College was established in the year 1972. Today, in the 50th year of its existence, the department attracts students from all parts of Goalpara District as well as from other parts of Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal. Presently, it offers a H.S. course and an undergraduate course (Honours and Regular) to both the Arts and Science streams. There are five full-time teachers and two guest lecturers in the department. The departmental library has a collection of approximately 300 books, many of which are basic text and reference books. The department has a well-equipped GIS laboratory and a digital classroom with internet facility and LCD projector. The department has a good WiFi connectivity. Moreover, there is a sufficient quantity of models, maps, and globes in the department that are frequently used by the teachers in class transactions. The department is also well equipped with sophisticated practical instruments and has a full time and part time office bearer. The teachers of the department also provide the students with personal level counselling and guidance through the mentoring system, not only in academic matters but also in making choices of career-related decisions. A Wall Magazine is published every year.
