About Department

The Department of Philosophy is one of the oldest departments at Dudhnoi College. It was established in 1972 and, at first, it offered Logic as an optional subject in pre-university/pre-degree. Presently, the department offers both B.A.(CBCS) major and general courses . It has a student strength of approximately 30 in major courses. Almost every year, some students graduating from the department get enrolled in post-graduation courses at Gauhati University, Cotton University, and other universities. The department also has a departmental library along with a computer with an internet facility. Presently, the Department of Philosophy is enriched with two full-time teachers and two guest lecturers. In addition to its regular co-curricular events like welcoming new students, saying goodbye, and celebrating Teachers' Day, the department also regularly organises its departmental seminars, an annual meeting of parents, teachers, and students, student counselling sessions, and the publication of its Wall magazine.
