About Women Study Centre

Since the time of establishment Dudhnoi College has been creating an important role in creating awareness on different sensitive matter in Dudhnoi as well as in the areas nearby. Dudhnoi College Teachers’ Unit has a separate cell for women. In 2005 Women Study Cell was formed in the college. Though the Cell organised many awareness programmes in the neighbouring villages; but because of lack of fund the activities of the Women Study Cell is mainly confined with limited activities like awareness programme, workshop etc and still unable to offer its own course as an independent department. Recently on May 2019 an advisory committee was constituted in order to form Women Study Centre in Dudhnoi College in accordance with the rules and regulations of University Grants Commission. In these contexts, the present study assumes significance and contemplates to set up a study centre for women in the College.

Objectives

1. The main objective of the formation of Women’s Study Centre is to make it as a centre of excellence by performing a transformative role in the region to empower women through education and training programmes, research and extension activities and to support women to understand their potentialities and to create a more gender-just society.

2. To create awareness regarding women empowerment and gender equity through teaching, research and extension activities.

3. To build new knowledge on women on regional and national perspective in order to meet the needs of the women following the pathways of UGC and the affiliating university.

4. To develop the curriculum in women studies to incorporate women’s dimension into courses in different disciplines.

5. To conduct foundation course/short term courses in women studies for under graduate students.

6. To conduct research to provide opportunities to women to develop the inner skills enhancing their contribution to the society.

7. To help in creating conducive environment through awareness and gender sensitization amongst the underprivileged and marginalised section of the society.

8. To conduct seminar, workshop, conference on issues related to women.

9. To build up network with government agencies, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions as well as with volunteers to further the cause of women empowerment.

The Advisory Committee of the Women’s Study Centre, Dudhnoi College, Dudhnoi

The advisory committee is formed with the principal as chairperson, one teacher-in-charge from the college, two experts on women issues and two representatives from voluntary organisations. The main functions of the Advisory Committee will be to take an overview of the progress and functioning of the Centre and advice accordingly.
