DUDHNOI COLLEGE NSS UNIT
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary association of young people, especially college students to work for campus-community linkages. The aim is to develop student’s personality through community service.
The NSS Unit of Dudhnoi College is an important body of the college fraternity. The unit is comprised of male and female student volunteers. The unit aims to provide service to the community when required. It also tries to create harmony between the college and the community.
Events Organized
The National Service Scheme Unit of Dudhnoi College has been playing a vital role in community participation of the college. The Unit has undertaken several community outreach activities and the volunteers have shown keen enthusiasm in the activities. During the first, second and third waves of Covid-19 Pandemic, the volunteers conducted awareness campaigns in their localities.
Five volunteers of the Unit participated in Tribal Youth Programme from 2nd to 8th March, 2020, organized by Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati in collaboration with Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, Govt. of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
On 20th January, 2021, the Unit organized an online workshop on Online Safety and EVAC in association with WAY Foundation.
On 9th October, 2021 volunteers of the Unit conducted a ‘hand washing campaign’ for creating awareness in Global Hand Washing Campaign at Bakaitari High School.
The volunteers took part in a cleanliness drive under Clean India Campaign on 30th October, 2021 from traffic point, Dudhnoi to Duhnoi College gate. They also created awareness among the public about the necessity of keeping the locality clean.
Ten volunteers of the Unit conducted a survey among 100 households of Bakaitari village as a part of ODF Plus and Hand Hygine Campaign on 14th November, 2021. The survey report was forwarded to Mission Directorate, Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin, Govt. of Assam.
The volunteers took part in the 25th National Youth Festival held online from 11th to 16th January, 2022.
The Unit collaborated with the Women Cell, Dudhnoi College Teachers’ Association and Assam College Teachers’ Association, Goalpara zone in the celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2022. The programme was held at Khara village and 5 local women working in different sector have been felicitated.
The volunteers have actively participated in different activities and functions of the college like College Week, Saraswati Puja, Covid-19 vaccination camp etc. The Unit conducts campus cleanliness campaigns on a regular basis. The Unit donated teaching learning materials, an almirah and a water filter to Gabilpara, its adopted village. The Unit will work on ground level for the overall development of the adopted village.
